Gentle fingerpicking in andante tempo sets the tone for a wistful ode to the warmth, security, and sense of belonging that can only be provided by the place you call home... wherever and whatever that word may mean to you.
A sparse arrangement supports the lyrical approach to songwriting; the odd background strum here and there provides texture, whilst the melodic guitar lines that pop up allow for a brief moment of contemplation. The intimate atmosphere suits Jackson's warm tenor, a soothing and welcome voice which evokes memories of country greats from the past but retains a distinct northern charm that is as authentic as it is engaging. The melancholic nature of the music belies a positive interpretation of the message here, but also adds depth and a secondary meaning. Nothing is perfect in this life and we are free to assign our own values and importance to whatever we like, whether that be green fields or fancy neon lights, friends and family, or all or none of the above.
We can love the imperfect. We can value the small and grey.
Judge for yourself!
